Om Shaakir
Hi! My name is Shaakir! Born and raised in the US, I moved to Oslo in 2017. Ive been living here for 4 years now and I'm loving it! I moved here to pursue a career in classical ballet with Den Norske Opera og Ballett. I have trained in classical ballet (and other styles of dance such as modern, neoclassical, contemporary, etc) for over 17 years now.
I am willing to give private lessons and coaching to eager children and young adults and even older adults!! I have some experience coaching students 1 on 1 and groups of 4 from when I was a senior student in the US. I am dedicated to the artform as I have achieved dancing at the highest level in Norway, being taught by world renowned coaches my whole life and am now making a living as a professional dancer. I've been employed with the opera since 2017-- 4 years down and hopefully many more to go.

1 on 1 private gives undivided attention to the small details of classical ballet.
I can share my knowledge of clear position, making the best line, musicality and coordination. To share this kind of experience the lesson would have to be in person. Online lessons are good, but dance is physical. Training is different when in person. The feeling of movement is better transferred when face to face.There is an American/Cuban approach to these lessons. My strengths are jumps, pirouettes, and pas de deux (partnering)Classes can be from 1hr/1hr30m. If you would like more than 1hr/1hr30m, just ask :). My availability is most likely after 5, unless I have a show. Then I can't teach. Otherwise, the weekends are usually always free. I can teach children from ages 6-14 and 15-18 and adults of all ages. I want to create relationships with my students to have a better understanding of who they are (everyone learns differently) and to find out the strengths and weaknesses. That way lessons in the future can be more targeted to something.
