Darina is very experienced and a skilled teacher. She includes various topics useful for real life in her classes, so I’m able to start using what she teaches right away. My main reason for learning is to connect with my Slovak relatives, and Darina keeps me motivated to continue. I’m seeing real progress with her, and I couldn’t be any happier. Thank you Darina!

Darina is definitely what you can call a “super” teacher, she takes the time to make sure I’ve really understood everything and know how to use it. Her exercises for oral practice are the best, so many teachers focus only on theory but fail to actually make the student communicate! Darina’s approach is totally the opposite, she focuses on the goal of real-life communication and everything we do in the lessons helps me achieve this goal. I’m very motivated, as I’m seeing real progress with Darina! I think she’s one of the best teachers you could possibly work with.

Darina is definitely the BEST teacher I’ve ever met!!! I’ve tried studying Slovak on my own for a long time, but I was always frustrated because the grammar is so complex and I could never understand the rules! Darina knows how to explain it so that everything makes sense, and she has excellent speaking exercises for us to practice everything it so that I turn my knowledge into skills. Now I can actually speak with my Slovak girlfriend in Slovak! Something I had only dreamed was possible before! If you want to learn Slovak, taking lessons with Darina is the best decision you could make for your goal.

I really wish I had found Darina earlier — she would have made learning Slovak so much easier, faster, and more fun!! I wanted to learn Slovak in order to be able to communicate with my husband’s family, who are all Slovak. I tried with self study methods, textbooks, and a few other teachers, but I couldn’t progress. When I started with Darina, she perfectly understood my needs and she makes the best lesson plans for me to reach my goals. Darina is one of the very best teachers out there. She is always prepared for our lesson with material adapted to my level and goals, and her lessons are both interesting and effective. She focuses on communication, not just doing exercises, so there is a lot of interaction. By the end of the lesson, I feel like I’ve really learned the material well, and Darina gives me exercises so I can review outside of class too. I’d recommend her to anyone who wants to learn Slovak in order to really use it and communicate with ease!

Darina is able to encourage and promote understanding of mathematical concepts. She is patient and knows how to find where a student is at, building on their knowledge and understanding. She is able to identify what exactly needs to be worked on if a student struggles and builds progressively on their knowledge.
We were delighted to have Darina tutor our Grade 11 son, who had always struggled with Math. We saw him grow in confidence and take charge of his own learning. I would highly recommend Darina.
