Om Joan
I am a Nurse by profession who has a desire to teach my native language in the Philippines called "Tagalog." I was an ESL Teacher from 2011-2013 who taught English to Korean students ages 9-17 years old. Sharing my culture and language are my passions. I was trained in teaching on 2011 before I become an ESL Teacher. I don't have a degree in teaching but through the training and my working experience in teaching made me the eagerness to share what I have learned. Being in Europe for 5 years up to present helped me to have the confidence to converse with anyone.

My teaching method is to focus in teaching the basics to get the best result. The first step to teaching people to speak Filipino better is building comprehension to understand the language. I will train the person to teach lots of Filipino words, grammar and speaking will follow. Second, reading aloud Filipino stories. I will give the copy so the students can follow what I read. Enjoying Filipino poetry, singing praise and folk songs will help unlock vocabulary words that will make them more comfortable in using the language. Third, I will prepare some activities to build the potential and ability of the students in application of my teaching. Fourth, above all else, patience in teaching is the key no matter how nice is the methodology of teaching.
