Om Javad
M. Javad Khajavi is an award-winning multi-disciplinary designer, developer, and researcher who works at the intersection of art, design and technology. Javad made his first animation by writing a computer code in 1995 at the age of ten. He is a tech-savvy whose works span several disciplines including 2D and 3D animation, game technology, and virtual reality. He is currently an Associate Professor at Volda University College in Norway. He was previously an Assistant Professor at the National University of Ireland Maynooth. He graduated from Nanyang Technological University (NTU) in Singapore with a PhD in Media Arts + Design in 2017.

Learning sciences research suggests that more effective learning will occur if each learner receives a customized learning experience. Different learners enter the classroom with different cognitive structures and as we know from neuroscience, individual characteristics are far from fixed. Therefore, students learn best when they are placed in a learning environment that is sensitive to their pre-existing structures and that is flexible enough to adapt teaching strategies to individual needs. I conisder personalized teaching approaches when preparing course contents and assignmnets, continually identifying and responding to students' needs. I achieve this by designing modules flexible and open-ended where students can tailor educational directions and select the assignments that fit their interests, cognitive strucutre, and career plans. Moreover, my emphasis is on creating an active, dynamic, and collaborative class environment (both on campus and online) where students interact with and learn from each other.
