Om Willie
Teaching is a key part of my professional life. I teach classical guitar lessons to a diverse collection of students and have researched pedagogical approaches across a wide range of instruments and genres.
Musicality, depth of knowledge, and an ergonomically healthy approach to one’s instrument are integral to my instructional methods. I teach both in-person and online lessons (using a self-designed, flexible four-camera set-up that ensures the best possible experience for each student).

I provide individual and highly personalized classical guitar lessons for the motivated student who is interested in exploring the rich repertoire, music fundamentals, and playing techniques that define our wonderful instrument.
As an instructor, I combine university studies in music (undergraduate degree from the Boston Conservatory and music technology (graduate degree in music technology) to provide an extremely natural online lesson experience. My online lesson setup utilizes multiple cameras so that I can pinpoint every detail of guitar technique.
I base my guitar teaching methods on a combination of approaches drawn from guitar, piano, and violin pedagogies, drawing inspiration from the more established piano and violin sources and bringing these influences to a personalized guitar pedagogy. Diverse repertoire and musical selections that specifically appeal to each student's personal interests are crucial elements in shaping lessons that are effective, musically enriching, and (of course!) FUN.
Online lessons can be a great choice for students ages 10 and up. Lessons are typically 60 minutes once a week, however, for particularly young students, 30 minute lessons may also be an option.
