Om Kaila
Outside of university, I have several years of experience working with children and young people, including four years as a dance teacher. This experience taught me how to communicate clearly, be patient and encouraging, and adapt the way I explain things to suit different students.
I know that science can sometimes feel overwhelming, so I aim to create a relaxed and positive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes. I genuinely enjoy helping people understand concepts that they previously found difficult and seeing their confidence grow.
I’m friendly, approachable and enthusiastic, and I want my students to leave tutoring sessions not only with better results, but feeling more confident in their own abilities.

My approach to tutoring is supportive, patient and tailored to each student. I focus on breaking difficult scientific concepts into simple, understandable steps before using practice questions and real-world examples to build confidence and consolidate knowledge. I also help students develop effective study techniques, exam strategies and problem-solving skills rather than simply memorising content.
Having studied a broad range of science subjects, particularly biology and environmental science, I am comfortable adapting lessons to different abilities and learning styles.
Sessions are typically one hour, although longer or shorter sessions can be arranged depending on the student's needs.
My tutoring is best suited to primary and secondary school students, including students preparing for senior secondary science subjects and exams. Whether a student is struggling with a subject or aiming for top marks, I tailor each session to their individual goals and level.
