Om Goke
I grew up in Nigeria and attended the International School, Lagos for my secondary education. Throughout my secondary education, I got an A grade 16 times out of the 18 terms, and also got an A grade in the two final entry exams into the university (West African Examination Council). I attended the University of Lagos where I successfully completed a Bachelors in Electrical Engineering. I also tutored since 2007 and was able to help younger students achieve their goals. I currently work for an international company in Norway on a flexible schedule and sharing my knowledge in Mathematics from a practical standpoint really motivates me. I also successfully completed an MBA program in University of South Wales, where key quantitative skills were required to pass all the modules. My employers say my biggest skill is Coaching and Mentoring.
I have a strong passion for education and making a positive impact in peoples lives, and an opportunity to impact students positively motivates me. I am result oriented and working with me will yield measurable results.

I have been a private tutor for students in my university during my undergraduate days and I have helped several students achieve their potential. I hold a Bachelor degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering and a Masters in Business Administration.
My aim as a tutor is to create in my students a deep understanding and confidence in answering exam questions and being able to tackle new and unfamiliar problems. My philosophy is based on the idea that learning happens in an environment of mutual respect in which the student is encouraged to think and make new connections for themselves. My experience has been that one-to-one personal tuition has a unique value to students because of the ability to resolve the students’ personal barriers to learning in a way that lays the foundations for a deep and lasting understanding of the subject.
My approach varies depending on the student’s needs and learning style. However my teaching philosophy is based on encouraging students to think for themselves, using real-world examples wherever possible. I start from topics the students are comfortable with and move gradually towards more complex areas as their confidence builds. I use questions and examples to check understanding continually. I don’t lecture to students or ask them to memorise things. Nor do I do the students’ homework for them!
I usually focus on exam-style or past paper questions in order to check, practice and perfect the student’s understanding and technique. I also give a lot of emphasis to some of the less obvious but vital skills such as essay structure and technique, logical thought, and the effective use of numbers and graphs.
I believe passionately in the huge value of tutoring to students and take great satisfaction in seeing my students achieve their full potential.
I tutor Mathematics at upper secondary school level, and in some cases up to degree level where required. Each tutoring session takes 1-2 hours.
