Om Juan
¡Hola! I’m Juan Carlos, a native Spanish tutor from Cali, Colombia.
I’ve been teaching Spanish for 14 years — including five years full-time at Berlitz in Colombia and Brazil, working with hundreds of group and private students. For over a decade, I’ve also taught online with students from all over the world. I hold a Bachelor’s in Economics and International Business and a Master’s in Marketing, and I’m certified in both ELE (Spanish as a Foreign Language) and TEFL. I also spent six years in corporate roles, which gives me a real understanding of the professional contexts many of my students navigate.
What makes my classes different? I combine genuine communicative teaching with modern technology. I build custom AI-powered tools for my students: interactive grammar activities, personalized reading exercises adapted to your level and interests, and even scenario-based simulations to encourage real-life conversations. These aren’t one-size-fits-all apps, because I design them specifically around the topics we cover in lessons or the ones you’re interested in.
Many of my students are learning Spanish for real connections with the Spanish-speaking world — whether that’s a trip to Peru, a move to Mexico, a partner from Venezuela, holidays in Spain, or a work project anywhere in Latin America. I tailor every lesson to the specific country or context you care about, including regional vocabulary, expressions, and cultural nuances.
I work with two groups of learners:
Videregående and university students: Whether you're working toward your studiekompetanse, preparing for a DELE certification, or taking a university course, my interactive, tech-enhanced approach keeps lessons engaging and relevant. You'll practice with AI-powered tools that make studying between sessions genuinely useful — not just another textbook exercise.
Adults learning for work, travel, relationships, or personal growth: Whether you’re preparing for a role in Mexico, planning a trip to Peru or Spain, connecting with a partner’s family, or simply curious about the language, I’ll build your program around your real-life goals. All lessons from B1 onwards are conducted entirely in Spanish.
I’m patient, respectful, and genuinely curious about the people I work with. I bring humor, cultural depth, and intellectual range to every conversation — from regional slang to global affairs, psychology to travel stories. Learning a language should feel like a real connection, not a chore.

WHAT CAN YOU EXPECT FROM MY LESSONS?
I work with learners aged 16 and above, in one-on-one online sessions.
1. A supportive, fun environment. Learning should be enjoyable, not stressful. I’m patient, encouraging, and I adapt to your pace.
2. Real communication from day one. We build vocabulary, fluency, and practical grammar so you feel confident speaking. From B1 onwards, all classes are conducted in Spanish.
3. Fully personalised lessons. Whether you’re preparing for a DELE exam, a work presentation, a trip to Latin America or Spain, or a conversation with your partner’s family — every lesson is built around your goals and the specific context or region you’re interested in.
4. Structured follow-up after every class. You’ll receive clear notes and tailored homework after each session.
5. AI-enhanced interactive tools. I build custom digital activities for my students — interactive grammar web apps, AI-generated readings matched to your level, and podcasts and transcripts made with NotebookLM. These tools are designed around the topics we cover in class, so your practice between lessons is always relevant.
6. Authentic Spanish content. From B1 onwards, we use videos, short documentaries, podcasts, and news articles from sources like DW Español, BBC Mundo, El País, YouTube, and Netflix to spark real conversation and build natural vocabulary.
7. Modern, high-quality materials. I use up-to-date grammar books, workbooks, infographics, and curated online resources for structured, measurable progress.
8. Quick replies and flexible scheduling. I’m responsive and always happy to work around your availability.
