Om Jocelyn
I am an American citizen currently residing in Norway while I pursue a master’s degree in business psychology. I am passionate about mentorship and have experience developing mentees in food service and the performance arts as well as tutoring undergraduate volunteers in an experimental psychology lab.

I have been a lifelong voracious reader and love the written word as well, having published novel research in several premier psychological journals in addition to the occasional freelance technical writing gig. I consider language my forte and enjoy the technicalities and nuance as well the artistry. I have a passion for mentorship spanning from the restaurants and bars in which I’ve worked to the performance arts (specifically dance and circus arts) to the role of lab coordinator in an experimental psychology lab as my responsibilities entailed providing both professional development and academic support and tutoring to undergraduate volunteers. I sincerely believe that mentorship both benefits the mentee and enhances one’s mastery of a given skill and I personally experience a deep, genuine sense of satisfaction knowing that I am an agent of another’s success.
As THE global language, anyone interested in learning English deserves the opportunity to learn including cultural subtleties and colloquialisms. I currently reside in Norway and until very recently Oslo where the common tongue of English enables the rich and diverse immigrant population to communicate almost seamlessly with one another and locals. I do believe that language is acquired most naturally via person-to-person interface and regarding teaching style I tend to bend to the individual needs of those I tutor rather than espousing one particular philosophy, an approach with which I have thus far had fantastic success. I believe my linguistic skill set and experience with mentorship and tutoring renders me a useful candidate and I am eager to become a member of you team.
